Thunderbirds 1 and 2. TB2 is a large 1/144 Imai kit made from a strange dense expanded polystyrene covered with a resin coating. TB1 is a resin UNCL kit about 1/100 scale. TB1 was scaled in the PC to TB2. The background is a photo I took flying just east of Edinburgh, but flipped mirror image so the sun was roughly in the right place.

Two foot long resin Zero X from AJAMODELS (via Federation Models). Scaled to the Imai 1/350 scale Thunderbird 2. I installed magnets to allow for separation of the MEV and Lifting Bodies.

AB resin Hawk from Space:1999. Quoted as 1/48 scale, it is nearer 1/39, although I did use 1/48 pilot figures. The kit required a great deal of modification. In this instance I also had to cheat a bit as the orange turned out the wrong shade and was altered within Photoshop.

Reshape resin SHADO Lunar Carrier and Lunar Module. Probably 1/144 scale.

Imai SHADO Mobile with scratchbuilt chassis and tracks. No computer manipulation, just a calendar image propped up behind the model.

UNCL 7" Martian Exploration Vehicle. There were two options to build this kit - the original version was seen in the 1966 Thunderbirds film "Thunderbirds are Go!". The version shown here was the MEV seen in the opening episode of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.

The landscape is another Terragen image.

Scratchbuilt Jodrell 6 Transmitter Truck from the Thunderbirds episode "Sun Probe". No computer manipulation. The background is a calendar image and the snow, talcum powder.

Aoshima 1/350 Thunderbird 1 launch bay. The kit came only with two walls so I built the third and the ramp.

Reshape resin1/144 scale SHADO Lunar Carrier and Lunar Module.

The Spectrum Hovercraft was only seen in one episode of Captain Scarlet (The Traitor). The hovercraft was envisioned to be operated by Spectrum in the world's wilderness regions.

This is a resin kit by UNCL and is approx. 1/48 scale. I deliberately did not apply the Koala Base decal as I wished to photograph the model in settings other than that of the Australian Outback as featured in the episode.

Scratchbuilt Cloudbase from Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons (probably about 1/700).

UNCL resin 15 inches long Space Intruder Detector (SID) from UFO. It is approximately 1/48 scale.

Reshape resin1/144 scale SHADO Lunar Carrier and Lunar Module.

Two foot long resin Zero X from AJAMODELS (via Federation Models). Scaled to the Imai 1/350 scale Thunderbird 2. I installed magnets to allow for separation of the MEV and Lifting Bodies.

SHED resin 12" tall Thunderbird 3.

Modified Taito game prize model of Thunderbird 5 with SHED resin Thunderbird 3 about to dock. As the two models are not to the same scale TB3 was resized in Photoshop.

Aoshima 1/350 Thunderbird 1 launch bay. The kit came only with two walls so I built the third and the ramp.

Two foot long resin Zero X from AJAMODELS (via Federation Models). Scaled to the Imai 1/350 scale Thunderbird 2. I installed magnets to allow for separation of the MEV and Lifting Bodies.

MEV from the AJAMODELS ZERO X.

The background was rendered in Terragen. I decided to dupicate  the look of the film rather than make Mars red as we know it today.

Scratchbuilt 1/48 SHADO Moonmobile from UFO.
The moonscape is another Terragen image.

UNCL 1/48 resin Angel Interceptor from Captain Scarlet.

AB resin Hawk from Space:1999.

Scratchbuilt Firefly exiting pod built to accommodate two scratchbuilt IR rescue vehicles (Firefly,Domo) and the Imai Mole (at right).

Two foot long resin Zero X from AJAMODELS (via Federation Models). Scaled to the Imai 1/350 scale Thunderbird 2. I installed magnets to allow for separation of the MEV and Lifting Bodies.

Imai Mole which came with accurate chassis and tracks. The spinning drill bit and flying debris was accomplished using Photoshop.

SHED Thunderbird 3 (approx. 1/300). The background of Tracy Island/Pacific was rendered in Terragen.

Taito game prize Thunderbird 4 model. Deep panel lines were filled, a pilot added and the model was repainted. Approx. 1/35 scale.

Modified AMT Moonbase Alpha with 1/72 Airfix Eagle overflying. The lunar surface was built from MDF and plaster.

Scratchbuilt 1/48 SHADO Moonmobile from UFO.

Imai 1/144 Thunderbirds 2 and Konami Firefly.

Scratchbuilt 1/144 RTL2 from Thunderbirds episode "The Cham-Cham".

UNCL 7" Martian Exploration Vehicle as seen in the opening episode of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. Originally seen in the 1966 film "Thunderbirds are Go!", the MEV is the landing component of the giant Zero X.

The landscape is another Terragen image and the Rock Snakes were made by Jeff Hosea from expanded polystyrene way back in the 60's.

Taito game prize Thunderbird 4 model. Deep panel lines were filled, a pilot added and the model was repainted. Approx. 1/35 scale. TB4 was rescaled in Photoshop to fit with the pod interior.

Imai Maximum Security Vehicle from Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons.

UNCL resin Thunderbird 1 kit. Rocket exhaust was created within Photoshop.

UNCL resin 15 inches long Space Intruder Detector (SID) from UFO. It is approximately 1/48 scale.

UNCL 1/48 resin Angel Interceptor from Captain Scarlet.

Scratchbuilt Moonbase Alpha launchpad with Photoshop reduced 1/72 Airfix Eagle (with scratchbuilt lab pod). 1/48 resin Moon Buggy also reduced to scale.

Imai SPV photographed against a calendar and talcum powder for snow.

I was commissioned to photograph Steve Davies' magnificent 3 foot diameter Moonbase launch pad which was built in scale with any 12" Eagle spacecraft - in this case a Product Enterprise diecast Eagle.

Modified Taito game prize model Thunderbird 5. Scale unknown.

Imai 1/350 Thunderbird 2 Launch Bay. The overhead lights are acrylic spheres with one light source behind illuminating them all (as per the method used in the series).

Scratchbuilt Moonbase Alpha launchpad with scaled down 1/72 Airfix Eagle. The winch pod was also scratchbuilt and the lunar mountains were rendered in Terragen.

Modified Taito game prize model Thunderbird 5 with docked SHED resin Thunderbird 3. As TB3 is not to scale with TB5 it was resized in Photoshop.

Scratchbuilt 1/72 Firefly and TB2 pod.
